The U-21 volleyball Lions of Cameroon take to the field this Saturday, February 20 for their first game in the U-21 Men’s African Nation championship, Egypt 2021.
Cameroon who has never won this competition take on a Moroccan side that has won the competition once. Cameroon faces Morocco at 5 pm Moroccan time this Saturday.
The U-21 team arrived in Egypt on Friday morning and have participated in various training sessions to get them well prepared for the encounter.
Cameroon’s second encounter comes up against host Egypt on Monday, February 22. Like Morocco, Egypt has won the competition before, winning four times. The last group game for Cameroon then comes up on Wednesday with a crucial encounter against Congo.
“Our objective is the qualification for the world championship. We are hoping and beyond hope, as you can hope for something but, in the end, you do not achieve it,” Mbang Bian, Cameroon’s Assistant Coach told kick442.com.
“I believe with all what we have done in the past few weeks we are going to make it through and we are letting the guys know that they are the best in the CAN.”
Cameroon will be making its third appearance in the competition. Their previous appearances came back in 1984 and 1998, and on both occasions finished in third place.

It is a breath of fresh air for volleyball stakeholders as since January 2020 no volleyball event had been held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the great light giving for it to resume, fans are expecting interesting matchups in the competition.
The four Nations participating in this competition after the Central Africa Republic pulled out are also battling for a spot at the U-21 FIVB World Championship.
