The young Cranes of Uganda won their first game of the Under 20 African Cup of Nations tournament going on in Mauritania.
The Hippos got their debut appearance with a dominant performance against Mozambique as they triumphed by two goals to nil.
It was all Uganda from the blast of the whistle as two headers in the first half showed the intent of the team.
Uganda continued to pile the pressure until a hand ball in the box by the Mozambican defender resulted in a penalty in 57th minutes.
Derrick Kakooza of the Uganda Police Football Club stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and put Uganda ahead.
It was not over as substitute Steveb Sserwadda scored a sublime goal in the 84th minutes to make it difficult for the Mozambicans.
At the end, it was Uganda two, Mozambique nil at at the Stade Olympique in Nouakchott.
