The Hippos of Uganda progressed to the semifinals of the under twenty Africa Cup of Nations competition holding in Mauritania after beating the Stallions of Burkina Faso on penalties.
Uganda in the first time of asking reached the semis triumphing over the Burkinafaso 5-3 through a penalty shot out.
In a cagey match that had few chances, but Burkina Faso have had the best of opportunities.
The West African country could have scored after the ball falls to Burkina Faso, with Joffrey’s freekick rattling the crossbar.
After 120 minutes of play, it was time to decide the winner. Uganda were calmer and were better finishers than the Burkinababes in the round of penalties.
Goalkeeper Komakech saved a penalty while Uganda scored all their kicks to win the tie.
Kenneth Semakula scored the last kick of penalties kicks as the debutants continue to dream of a possible triumph at the tournament.
Uganda will play either Gambia or Central Africa Republic in one of the semifinal fixture of the 2021 AFCON U-20.
