The junior lions of Cameroon who have been participating at their last training exercise in Morocco ahead of the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations have landed in the host country Mauritania.
The team arrived Mauritania in the early hours of February 11 and were received at the international airport of Nouakchott by Cameroon’s Ambassador to Senegal, Mali, Mauritania and The Gambia, Jean Koe Ntonga.
In Morocco, the team had a series of friendly encounters to get themselves ready for the major tournament. Cameroon played some three friendlies against Burkina Faso, The Gambia and Central Africa Republic, CAR.
In the first encounter against Burkina Faso, Cameroon won 1-0. Their next encounter was a 1-0 defeat to the hands of The Gambia. The team made up for their lapse in concentration in their third encounter as the defeated CAR by 3-0. PWD’s Nchindo John Bosco scored a hattrick for Cameroon in that encounter.
The tournament that begins in Mauritania on Sunday, February 14 will conclude on March 6, 2021.
Cameroon is in Group A of the Under 20 AFCON alongside host Mauritania, Uganda and Mozambique. The tournament begins on February 14, with Mauritania facing Cameroon.
It should be noted that the top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives.
