After a two goals to one win over Ghana, Gambia went second behind Morocco and above Ghana to the next round of the 2021 Under twenty African Cup of Nations holding in Mauritania.
Morocco topped group C after their three nil win over group whipping boys, Tanzania in today’s encounter.
Ghana stroke first, but Gambia made an impressive comeback and led after a thrilling 45 minutes.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku broke the speed of sound to score a sublime goal from outside the box and give the black satellite the lead.
However, Kajally Drammeh’s strong header pegged back the Ghanaians and leave the score at one all.
Lamarana Jallow completed the turnaround for Gambia scoring the second goal and give Gambia the lead before the break.
The two teams push for more goals in the second phase of the game, but it was not to be as it ended 2-1.
Lamarana Jallow was awarded the player of the match award for the match.
Morocco ran over the Tanzanians in the first half by three goals to top group C with two wins and a draw.
The Atlas Lions scored through a penalty kick converted by El Mehdi El Moubarik after Mohammed Aimne was brought down in the box 18.
After a good ball possession by the Moroccans, Tawfik Bentayeb crossed the ball nicely to Mohammed Aimne to put the ball at the back of the net putting Morocco two goals ahead.
The man of the match, Ayoub Mouloua made it three before the end of first half.
In the second half, Tanzania had most chances to score, but nothing came out of the pressure they piled.
In the quarter final draw, Ghana will play Cameroon, Morocco and Tunisia will go head to head, Burkinafaso and Uganda will lock horns while Gambia will play Central Africa Republic.
