Cameroon’s baby lionesses humbled Zambia’s Under 17 women’s national team, 2-0 on Friday, April 15 in the third round qualifying match of the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Second half Goals from Mana Lamine and Camila Daha, ensure Cameroon’s Under 17 lionesses grab all three points after a fruitless first segment of the game.
Cameroon’s forward, Lamine,16, gave her side the lead at the 48th minute of play before Camila Daha could close the gap at the 68th minute after Opponent threatened to equalize but shot went off target.
It should be noted that it was Camila Daha Yvette who scored the lone goal for her side in their friendly game against Canon of Yaounde on April 7th, 2022 where they lost to the latter 2-1.
Coach Stephane Ndzana and his girls qualified for this round of the competition after Eritrea’s withdrawal.
Zambia did not play in the first and second rounds since their supposed opponents, Namibia and Eritrea backed out from the competition.
The young Copper Queens’ ambition to and eyes on the fourth qualifying round has partially been shattered by Cameroon’s baby Lionesses in their search for an India 2022 spot.
Cameroon is hoping to book a third consecutive FIFA World Cup ticket. While Coach Kaluba Kangwa and his young Queens return to the competition after a long while of been absent since their maiden appearance in 2014.
Zambia made their maiden appearance at back in 2014 with the likes of Hazel Nali, Mary Wilombe, Grace Chanda and Barbra Banda leading the team.
Winner of the double confrontation will qualify for the next round and face either Burundi or Tanzania in the fourth qualifying round.
The competition is scheduled to take place in India from October 11 to 30, 2022.
