Chelsea’s great talent, Trevoh Chalobah has opted to play his international football with the country of his birth, Sierra Leone.
The Chelsea defender who is growing in leaps and bounds have continue to generate encomiums for his week-in week-out performance for the European champions with a man of the match performance in the UEFA champions league against Italian giant, Juventus.
Chalobah who was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone before he moved to England to join Chelsea academy at the age of 8 has represented England at various youth levels from U16 to U21 level.
The 22-year-old has however stated that he is Sierra Leone is his country.
During a press conference on Monday, Chalobah was asked about his international future with respect to Sierra Leone’s latest success and he said: “Obviously yes that is my country and I am really pleased, they have done well to qualify but my focus right now is on the club.”
The West African country booked their ticket to the 2022 African Cup of Nations holding in Cameroon after a one nil win over Benin Repubic at the qualifiers. A result which ensured their palace in the tournament after 25-years.
The Leone Stars are in Group E with Algeria, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea.
