25 year old Zimbabwe central midfielder Marvelous Nakamba has secured a big move to England’s top flight after he signed a contract with newly promoted Aston Villa worth 11 million £.
Nakamba joins the 1982 European champions from Belgian side Club Brugge.
He is Villa’s 12 signing of the summer transfer window.
“Marvelous fits the criteria of the type of player we are looking for,” Aston Villa’s head coach Dean Smith told the club’s website.
“He’s very mobile, he’s very good in possession and he will fit with our style of play.”
The native of Hwange has previously played for Buntu Rovers, AS Nancy Lorraine and Vitesse before joining Club Brugge in 2017 where he made 49 appearances in two seasons.
He has also won 18 caps for Zimbabwe including participating in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt where he featured in their 1-0 defeat to hosts Egypt in Group A.
Aston Villa have now spent 134 million £ this summer on 12 signings (Jota, Wesley, Kortney Hause, Matt Targett, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, Bjorn Engels, Anwar El Ghazi, Mahmoud Trezeguet, Douglas Luiz, Tom Heaton and Marvelous Nakamba).
