Turkish outfit Konyaspor have secured the services of Ugandan midfielder Farouk Miya from Croatian club HNK Gorica on a three-year contract.
Miya was Uganda’s key player in the qualifiers and was at the heart of all their offensive initiatives in their four games in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
The 21 year old attacking midfielder scored five goals in 30 games for Gorica last season.
“I admired the stadium and the facilities and as soon as I stepped into the club, I realized what a great community it was,” Miya told the club’s official website.
“I want to make a great contribution to Konyaspor with my performances.
“I had the chance to watch the first game of the season. We have a very high quality and very strong team.
“I am sure that I will adapt to the team in a short time and will do my best to the end.”
The native of Bulo in Uganda moved to Europe in 2016 from Kenyan club Vipers, when he signed for Standard Liege. He struggled for game time and was loaned out to Royal Excel Mouscron then to Sebail, before his move to Gorica in 2018.
Miya has won 56 caps scoring 19 goals for the Cranes of Uganda.
