31 year old Algerian international forward Islam Slimani has completed a season long loan move to AS Monaco in the French Ligue 1, with the option to buy him from Leicester City.
His current contract with Leicester City runs until 2021.
Monaco who are currently bottom of the French League with two defeats in their two opening fixtures are looking to reinforce their attacking compartment.
Slimani will reunite with Monaco Boss Leonardo Jardim after playing under him at Sporting Lisbon.
Slimani moved to Europe in 2013 from CR Belouizdad. He spent his first three years in Europe with Sporting playing 82 league games with them scoring 48 goals before Leicester City came calling.
The Algerian forward has struggled at Leicester with just eight goals in 35 league appearances.
Loan spells at Newcastle United and Fenerbahçe have not been successful as well.
At AS Monaco the 2019 AFCON winner with the Desert Foxes of Algeria will hope to rediscover his form under a coach who knows how to get the best out of him.
“I am very happy to sign to AS Monaco, a big club which has as objective to fight for the top spots in the league and qualify for the European club competitions. I will do my best to help the club attain its objectives,” Slimani said.
He has won 63 caps with 27 goals for the Algerian national team.
