British media is reporting Manchester United’s interest in taking Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Patey to Northwest England in the summer as Ole Gunner looks to get more bodies in his squad.

The 25 year old former Odometeh FC man moved from the Ghanaian side to Athletico Madrid in 2011 and has been a regular at the club in the past two seasons.

Patey has all the attributes of a premier league midfielder and citinews amongst others say Manchester United officials have made contact with the player’s entourage with intentions to take him to England. Patey has always loved to one day be a premier league player according to above mentioned source.This rumour is circulating weeks after Patey’s name was echoed in the other side of Manchester as potential replacement for Veteran Fernandidho.

The goal-getting defensive midfielder provides different options for any team especially with his right footed drives in the final 3rd. Going by his outputs at Almeria,Mallorca,Athletico and for his country,he deserve the attention he is getting.Contrary to many holding mid-fielders, Patey get goals for whichever team he plays for making him one of the hottest African midfield asset especially for premier league clubs.

He made his debut for Ghana in June 2016 against Mauritius, since then,he has been a regular with his national side. This which makes a move to England more feasible.

He scored a goal of the season contender against Alavés on Saturday night which didn’t have more beauty than Essien’s thunder strike against Barcelona in 2009. The Ghanaian now has scored 12 goals for the Madrid giants and seven have been shots from outside the oppositions 18 meters box.

Patey has made 34 appearances for Athletico this season after signing a deal in March last year to keep him at the club till the summer of 2023.
