Cameroon’s international centre back, Yaya Banana is close to joining Czech Republic’s giant SK Slavia Prague.
The Olympiacos center back who spent last season on loan at another Greece club Panionios maybe on his way out of Greece. Yaya Banana scored one of Cameroon’s four goals at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations as he and his teammates were eliminated at the round of 16 by semi finalist Nigeria.
If the deal goes through, Yaya Banana will be joining his international colleague and defensive partner Michael Ngadeu in Prague.
Yaya Banana’s professional career began in June 2009, when he signed with Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis before he later moved to Europe to play for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard from Espérance Tunis in January 2012.
During the 2013/2014 season, Yaya was sent on loan to Swiss club Lausanne-Sport. In July 2014, he signed for Greek Super League side Platanias for an undisclosed fee. He immediately became the undisputed leader of the club’s defense.
On 23 June 2017, when his contract with Platanias ended, he joined Panionios, remaining in the Greece Super League where he later signed for Olympiacos F.C in the 2018 summer transfer window but returned to Panionios on a season-long loan as he was not in the plans of Olympiacos coach Pedro Martins.
A move to Prague may give him the ideal environment to settle and enjoy his football.
