Malawi’s senior nation football head coach Mario Marinica has made public a provisional squad ahead of the upcoming 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations to hold in Cameroon from January 9th to February 6th.
The 42-man provisional squad comes up barely three weeks, after the calling of a 34-member squad of local- based players to camp ahead of the Cameroon soccer bonanza.
As part of the just published list are two home based players, Clever Mkungula reserve keeper for Nyassa Big Bullets and Civo’s defender Lawrence Chaziya. With the rest of the squad comprising of foreign based talents.

Malawi are in group B alongside Senegal, Guinea and Zimbabwe.The Flames will begin their AFCON campaign with a game against Guinea on January 10th, in the Cultural city of Bafoussam at the 20,000 seating capacity Kuekong Stadium as from 5pm.
Mario Marinica said they have included youthful players in the squad to make sure that there is a proper transition of players from junior to senior.
Before facing Zimbabwe on January 14 . The team’s last group game will be against Senegal on January 18th.
