The first set of the Malawi National football team has today left for Saudi Arabia through to do a ten- day camping ahead of the TotalErnegies AFCON come January 9, 2022.
Malawi’s second group of the team is expected to leave on Friday and join the others in camp following a release today on their Football Association page
Malawi’s official 30 man squad for the tournament has been released, dropping just 2 players out of the previous 32 man list made ahead of the African football showpiece.
In a list dominated by local based professionals, the Flames are drawn in Groub B alongside Zimbabwe, Sénégal and Guniea and the games are to be staged at the Keukong stadium in Bafoussam.
The boys of coach Meck Mwase will play their first game of the competition on January 10 against Guinea and face Zimbabwe on January 14 before their final group B game against Senegal.
A final selection will be made before 2021 goes to an end.
This will be their third participation in the tournament since 2010, after first qualification in 1984
