Cameroon’s 21-year old midfield anchor-man Jean Emile Onana Onana is expected to join the rest of his international colleagues this Tuesday evening at the complex Mundi in Yaounde-Cameroon.
The Lions opened camp at the facility on Monday December 27 with over a quorum of the 28 players summoned by coach António Conceiçao.
Though kick442.com had reported his injury might put him out of the tournament, 21-year old Onana is amongst the contingent of players expected to camp this Tuesday.
According to our sources the player is experiencing a speedier recovery from the hamstring problem and will be monitored by the Cameroon medical staff while in camp.
This latest twist and the fact that his replacement hasn’t been named reopens the players chances to be at the competition January 9 to February 6 tournament.
Though new to international football, the Girondin of Bordeaux midfielder is considered as an important part of the Cameroon team these days but the final decision on his participation will be based on his fitness situation.
Cameroon open their tournament on January 9 against Burkina Faso, before confronting Ethiopia and Cape Verde on the 13 and 17 respectively. Onana is expected to be fully-fit before Cameroon’s second game of the tournament.
