Three times winners of the African Cup of nations, the Super Eagles of Nigeria supporters are heavily bracing up for a thunderstorm turn out. For one of the most celebrated soccer mass to take place in neighboring country Cameroon in conforming with the barrier measures against COVID-19.
This massive super eagles fans turn out preparations have reached her zenith 24 days to the official kick-off of the competition, with the sacking of Franco-German tactician Gernot Rohr few weeks back in favour of Augustine Eguavoen as interim Head Coach to lead the young and talented Super Eagles squad to Cameroon.
The Pan-African sports media kick442 had a one on one with Prince Vincent Okumagba, President of the Super Eagles Supporters Club.
The President of the Super Eagles Supporters Club Prince Vincent Okumagba said; “We are mobilising well, we have been preparing for the past few months.The nations cup is a big football event for us.”

“As members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club, you know we have always been there everytime they are playing the Nations Cup, infact the last time they won in 2013, I was very instrumental leading the Supporters Club to be there, so this time around we are set for and convinced that we shall be able to win this Nations Cup. Even Covid-19 could not deprive us.”
“The challenge faced has always been funding , like you know the emergence of Covid-19 has affected every economy of the world and has impacted our finance negatively . However, we are hopeful that some corporate bodies would still come to our aid in making sure we are at AFCON in large numbers to support the super eagles to victory.”
“As of now , there is no support, but in the coming days it will be clearer as the country will offer us some support . The only unifying factor in our country is football and the supporters are an integral part of the team.”
The Super Eagles of Nigeria are found in Group D, alongside Egypt, Sudan and Guinea Bissau. They are expected to play their first game opener against the seven times AFCON champions Egypt on January 11, in Garoua at the 20,000 Roumde Adja sitting capacity stadium.
