More than 27 million Cameroonians have pledged unconditional support for the Indomitable Lions which can help them grab a sixth continental title on home soil.
This as the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations tournament Cameroon 2021 kick-off this Sunday.
In an exclusive interview with former Indomitable Lions forward, Patrick Mboma, the forward said qualified the event as a great moment.
“It’s a great moment for the nation. The nation host the most prestigious football tournament on the African continent”.
“As a Cameroonian, l think the Indomitable Lions have the necessary weapons that it takes to win this trophy.”
“The team is endowed with a cream of great players, the role of the 12th player (fans) is a huge moral booster for the team.”
“Algeria, Senegal, Morocco and Mali could be perceived as favourite for the AFCON. Algeria winners of the just ended Qatar Arab Cup can not to be neglected. However, Senegal being Africa’s number one based on the latest CAF ranking is considered to be a team to beat”.
“As as a former footballer I believe there could be pressure at this moment but we all we have in mind is to offer a win to our fans”.
“I will end by saying in this competition, no team is considered an underdog. All the teams are to be taken seriously. And it’s the first game counts most”.
Everything being equal, the 33rd edition of the TotalErnegies AFCON, will be marked by the tussle for the trophy by 24 nations divided in to six groups.
