The 33rd edition of the TotalErnegies Africa Cup of Nations Tournament will commence on 9th January, 2021 in Cameroon.
Ethiopia’s national football team arrived the country on Sunday December 26 to ready itself for the tournament. The Ethiopian team was the first of the 24 qualified teams for tournament to arrive the host nation.
It will be the 12th time the 1962 champions will be competing at the continental soccer jamboree.
Initially, the team planned to book tickets for a preparation in Saudi Arabia but the trip was adjusted due to Covid-19 protocols.
As revealed by the spokesperson of the national team, during an interview with ghanasportspage.com the team’s early arrival in Cameroon was motivated by a number of reasons.
“As you said we arrived in Cameroon earlier on Sunday. The secret behind is to prepare well in Yaounde and to adapt to the weather since we are playing in the city. Previously we planned a camp in Saudi Arabia or Dubai but due to the COVID protocols, it was impossible.
“Every country coming to is aiming to win every match so as a nation and also we are the one of the countries aiming to win especially the opening game,” He said.
