Burkina Faso’s deputy skipper Issoufou Dayo has revealed his nation will enter the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon with big ambitions.
According to the Morocco-based defender, the Stallions plan to end their everlasting wait for the title is close to an end.
“We are going to Cameroon to bring home the trophy,” the RS Berkane sweeper stated before going on to heap praises on his team mates.
“I think we have a talented group of players. I believe we have the means to win the AFCON,” Dayo continued in his discussion about the chances of the 2013 unlucky finalist.
The 48-capped defender who featured and scored for Burkina Faso in their 1-1 draw against Cameroon in the opening fixture is targeting a win against the host in the opener.
“We will target a win in our first game but most-important we will go in with the approach of one game at a time,” the 30-year old defender concluded.
Burkina Faso are currently in Dubai to prepare the tournament which gets underway on January 9.
The Stallions played a goalless draw in a warm-up game against Mauritania this Thursday as they prepare to open their tournament against Cameroon.
Burkina Faso in their 13th appearance at the AFCON are dreaming big going by words of their deputy skipper.
The Burkina Faso team face Cape Verde in their second training before capping it in group A against Ethiopia.
