The over 623 volunteers selected by CAF-COCAN to participate in this year’s 33rd edition of the TotalErnegies AFCON to be hoisted in Cameroon, have expressed an ardent desire to give in the best of theirs, for a fabulous and memorable AFCON.
A situation that has seen many of these volunteers express, their gladness after fulfilling the different conditions recommended by the competition’s guide.
Kome Apande Bertrand, a volunteer at the CAF-media commission had this ;
“I want to begin by thanking God for this golden opportunity, to be chosen as a CAF media volunteer few days to the holding of the most prestigious soccer Jamboree at home”.
“It has not been an easy task, from the online accreditation phase, to the interviews and the numerous training workshops, organised by Cocan-CAF. We are set and ready to implement all what has been taught to us so far come Sunday 9th,for the competition’s official kick-off”.
“Our responsibility as volunteers in the media commission, will be to assist the local and international media professionals before the game by giving them their pass for the pre and post game press conferences, provide them with the necessary information tools. And limiting the number of media practitioners to visit the players dressing rooms and other sites for interviews.Reason being that not all the media organs will be given access into some specific zones”.
“So far the major challenged my peers and l have faced has been that of time constrain. We leave our homes very early and return late by night. However, we understand that we are oblige to do so, in a bide to give the competition a splendor and ora that will make the foreign and local press feel comfortable to exercise their duty freely”.
As the official kick-off day for the AFCON draws closer, members of the animation, Human Rights,Media, Hospitality, Steward commissions and others will officially begin rehearsals at the annex A of the 60,000 Olembe seating capacity stadium on Thursday 5, so as to exhibit a marvelous and eye-catching display on the d-day in front of the Head of State, His Excellency President Paul Biya, CAF’s President Doctor Patrice Motsepe and a host of guess.
