Super Eagles of coach, Augustine Eguavoen says his team is ready for its opening Group D game against seven-time African Champions, Pharaohs of Egypt.
He opined that his side has its own game plan ahead of the game.
“I have been in this tournament before in 2016 and we finished with the Bronze medal, one thing I can guarantee; the boys are ready to contest and fight in every game. They (Egypt) have their game plan and we have our plans as well.” Says Augustine Eguavoen during his post-match reaction ahead of tomorrow’s game.
The former Nigerian international also spoke on winning the AFCON.
H said: “It’s a joyful thing to win the AFCON, we will work hard to win, but we have to take it game by game. It’s about the team and country, I am not looking at personal glory, I am looking at the honour we will bring to our country.”
Egypt defeated Nigeria 3-1 when both teams last met in 2008 and have in their fold the 2021 FIFA TheBest Player of the Year nominee and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah as its key player and a squad of hugely home-based players.
The Nigerian side will be without Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, Paul Onuachu, and Odion Ighalo but will be backing on the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho and Taiwo Awoniyi amongst other players for goals in the opening game.
