The coach of the Zimbabwe’s A’ team, Zdravko Logarusic says he is optimistic as a coach that his team will impress during the Total CHAN 2020 in Cameroon.
Coach Zdravko Logarusic was speaking this Friday morning in Yaounde during the traditional pre match press conference ahead of the opening match in the Total CHAN 2020 where they will face the host nation, Cameroon.
“As the coach I have to be optimistic about my team. We have to do the best we can do”.
“Covid affected all of us and we don’t have to look for excuses. In my country like in other countries, we were all affected by covid. That is the pressure on us and we will deal with the pressure”, Coach Zdravko Logarusic said.
The warriors of Zimbabwe had little or no preparation as covid-19 dealt a huge blow to their preparation after nine of their players tested positive for coronavirus. This forced the government of Zimbabwe to suspend their training sessions and coach Zdravko Logarusic was left with a truncated squad until shortly before their departure to Cameroon.
Quizzed about the knowledge he has about the intermediate lions of Cameroon, he said, “I have tried to read on the media about the Cameroon team and my knowledge is very low about them”.
Despite the odds, Zdravko Logarusic however remained optimistic.
“We have three games in our hands, we have 23 players ready to represent the country and on the bench we going to do same and let’s see how things will go”, he concluded.
Zimbabwe plays the opening match of the CHAN against Cameroon before facing Burkina Faso and Mali.
