Cameroon international, Jacques Zoua Daogari is among 23 players selected by the head coach of the intermediate lions of Cameroon, Martin Ndtoungou Mpile, to represent the nation during the African Nations Championship, CHAN, that begins in Cameroon on January 16, 2021.
Arguably on of the most experience player in the team, the striker who now plays his football for AS Futuro of Mfou, is on a date with history.
Jacques Zoua Daogari was part of the Cameroon squad that played and won the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Should the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon win the Total CHAN 2020, then Jacques Zoua Daogari will become only the second player to have a winners gold medal in the CHAN and AFCON. He could become just the second player to win the CHAN and AFCON.
The only other player to have won both the AFCON and the CHAN is Tunisian, Adel Chedli. He won the 2004 African Nations’ Cup with the “Carthage Eagles” of Tunisia when they hosted the competition. He won the CHAN with Tunisia in 2011 when Sudan hosted the competition.
On February 25, 2011 in Khartoum, Sudan, after defeating Angola 3#0 in the finals, Adel Chedli became the only player to win the CHAN and the AFCON.
During the 2018 tournament in Morocco, Chedli was named by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, as an ambassador at the tournament.
Therefore, Jacques Zoua Daogari has a date with history should the Intermediate Lions of Cameroon go on the win the Total CHAN 2020 on home soil.
