Intermediate Lions of Cameron at the ongoing Total African Nations Championship (CHAN 2020) surpassed their previous tournament record by getting to the semi-final.
Cameroon will play Syli National of Guinea on Saturday in the third-place match, but the Ndtoungou Mpile tutored side has been worthy representatives of the host country.
www.kick442.com look back at Cameroon’s journey thus far in the tournament.
Group A
Cameron 1-0 Zimbabwe
Cameroon kicked off their campaign at Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo, Yaoundé, with a slim 1-0 win over Zimbabwe on January 6, 2021.
Captain, Solomon Banga scored the solitary goal in the 70th minute.
Cameroon 1-1 Mali
Solomon Banga’s sixth-minute goal for Cameron was cancelled by Isaka Samake six minutes later.
Cameroon 0-0 Burkina Faso
The host ends their group A games with a barren draw which ensured a second-place finish and a quarter-final meeting with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).

Quarterfinal
Cameroon 2-1 DR Congo
The host almost suffered a scare from DR Congo in their quarter-final game. Makabi Lilepo gave DR Congo the lead in the 22nd minute. Two goals from
Yannick N’Djeng and
Felix Oukine in the 29th and 42nd minutes respectively booked a semi-final berth for Cameroon.
Semifinal
Cameron 0-4 Morocco
It was a disastrous night for Cameroon at Stade Omnisports Limbe as defending Champions Morocco thrashed them 0-4.
Two goals from Soufianne Rahimi and a goal each from Soufianne Bouftini and Ali Bemammer ensured that Cameroon will not win the trophy as they will have to settle for a third-place match against Guinea.
Irrespective of the result and the third-place game, Cameroon will finish the tournament with their best finish.
