MATCH REVIEW
Mali and Burkina Faso started the match on almost same pace with both teams trying to impose their own play style.
The opening 10 minutes of the match was mostly concentrated on the middle of the pack with nothing to ride home about.
The first real chance of the match came at the 33rd minute of play when from a corner kicks, Mali’s Mamadou Coulibaly headed wide from a close range.
At the 43rd minute of play, Mali recorded the first shot on target in the match when Siaka Bagayoko saw his long range free kick misjudged by goalkeeper Babayoure Aboubacar of Burkina Faso and the follow-up shot was off target as the first half ended on a virgin all tie.
SECOND HALF
The second half started just like the first as the midfield of both teams battled for possession and to impose their own play style with Mali coming close to scoring at the 52nd minute of play through Mamadou Coulibaly.
Coach Abdoulaye Konate of Mali and Issaka Ouedraogo then conducted two substitutions each to try and change the course of the match.
At the 72nd minute of play, Siaka Bagayoko headed a corner kicks pass goalkeeper Babayoure Aboubacar to give Mali the lead in the match.
At the 77th minute, Burkina Faso had a rare opportunity but the free kick from Hamed Belem did not worry goalkeeper Cheick Abdoul.
