The Copper Queens of Zambia began camping this Friday, April 2 ahead of the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Coach Bruce Mwape summoned 27 players with skipper Barbara Banda amongst several familiar names in the squad. The majority of the players that qualified the country to the global showpiece for the first time in the country’s history were all included.
The Tokyo Olympics was to take place last year but due to the global health pandemic, it had to be rescheduled for this year.
The Olympics will officially run between 24 July and 9 August 2021, but sporting action kicks off two days before the opening ceremony with preliminary women’s football matches set to light up the occasion for various sports disciplines, afrinews247 reported.
