Nigeria women’s basketball national team (D’Tigress) will face World Champions, United States of America (USA) when the basketball event of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics dunks off this year.
The Women’s Afrobasket Champions have been drawn in a tough Group B alongside USA, Japan, and France.
Group A houses South Korea, Serbia, Canada, and Spain; while Group C comprises Australia, Puerto Rico, China, and Belgium.

The Nigeria men’s basketball national team (D’Tigers) on the other hand will also play in Group B alongside Australia.
They will be joined by Winners of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT) in Croatia and Serbia.
Group A is made up of Iran, France, USA, and the winner of OQT in Victoria, Canada; while Group C houses Argentina, Japan, Spain, and the winner of OQT in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The women’s basketball event at the Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 8, 2021; while the men’s tournament is expected to take centre stage from July 25 to August 7, 2021.
