The entourage of Karl Toko Ekambi, Olympique Lyonnais and Villarreal are in negotiations for the player to stay in France, kick442.com can report.
The Cameroon international has been a subject of speculation in the past weeks. The media has continuously poked into undisclosed details for a better understanding of the future of the Villarreal man on loan at Olympique Lyonnais.
As the speculations grow, his representative has continued talks with the different parties.
Samir Khiat, Toko’s representative has confided L’Équipe du Soir that, in his capacity as the player’s he wants Ekambi to make the loan move permanent and he is in talks to exercise that option.
“I confirm that there was an option to buy if Lyon had qualified either for next season’s Europa League or the Champions League, but not for the qualifying stages. I should make that clear” Ekambi’s agent revealed.
Unfortunately the season ended prematurely with Lyon on the 7th spot, out of the champions League and Europa places. Despite this situation Lyon still appears keen on keeping the Cameroonian.
The club’s president Jean Michel Aulas has previously expressed Lyon’s interest, the agent’s view is similar.
“Now, the desire is still identical. Lyon are happy with the player, Toko is happy with the project offered by Lyon. The president has told your Media during a show that Lyon will certainly make a loss like the other French clubs, but you should know that Lyon have over the course of the last three years made between €60m and €75m in profit pre-tax. So I don’t think they will be the hardest hit French club. Today, everyone is in the same boat. Everyone wants the same thing to happen. There will be exchanges, there is no certainty, but everything is open to finding a solution so that the player can remain here” Samir averred.
