Coach António Conceição da Silva Oliveira has picked up his first win as head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

A Nicolas Brice Ngamaleu strike in the 68th minutes is all the Lions needed to pick up all three points in their second outing in the Day Two 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Rwanda in Kigali.

The defensive sound Cameroon side could have returned home with more but poor finishing especially in the first segment of the game made coach Conceição’s boys return to the changing room on a parity score with their host.

In the 68th minute Fai Collins Ngoran Suiru loaded a dangerous cross into the box which was deviated into the bottom corner of the net to give Cameroon the lead.

Karl Toko Ekambi and Nicolas Ngamaleu two good chances late in the game but didn’t make the most of it.

Meddie Kagare and Jacques Tysingue remained isolated up front as the minutes went by but Haruna made Onana to work with a great effort on additional time as the Lions held on for a one nil victory, which is the first in the Conceição era.

Cameroon ends 2019 with a win.

The Lions will return to action in March next year when the next round of qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup begins.
