Over 1500 Algerian national team fans are expected in the city of Douala on Wednesday. The supporters cartel are coming to galvanize their team ahead of the crucial AFCON 2021 game pitting the defending champions Algeria to double winners Ivory Coast.
According to findings by the editorial desk of the kick442.com team, 1500 additional fans of the Desert Foxes will be in the stands on Thursday when Algeria confront the Elephants in the crunch Group E decider.
Djamel Belmadi’s team with just a point from two games go into the fixture needing a win to stay in the competition and keep their title defense alive. Ivory Coast counting four points so far can seal a place in the round of 16 with a draw.
The arrival of additional fans will certainly be a boaster for the Algerian team whose 35 games unbeaten run came to an end last Sunday, thanks to a one-nil defeat by the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea.
Algerians fans are noted for traveling in thousands. During the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, a similar number of fans were brought in before the final game against Senegal and it paid off.
Algeria confront Ivory Coast in a decisive game on Thursday at 5pm in Japoma while the other group rivals Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone meet at the same time in Limbe.
