Reports from England have it that Arsenal have their sight firmly set on Ghanaian international Thomas Teye Partey after his most recent ranking as the best dribbler in the Spanish La Liga, off course, with Lionel Messi still active.
Opta Tweeted on Friday, April 17, a list of top five La Liga dribblers with Partey topping the chart and Messi good enough only for the 4th position;
Top Five best dribblers in Liga according to Opta
1- Thomas Partey 81.8%
2- André-Franck Zambo Anguissa 81.1%
3- Frenkie de Jong 74.5%
4- Lionel Messi 67.3%
5- Ever Banega 66.1%
Partey, who turns 27 in two months, has steadily improved under the stewardship of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Someone since he made his way into the first team in 2015 after a successful loan spell. He has gone ahead to cement a place as fan favourite at the Wanda Metropolitano.
According to Corriere dello Sport five days back, the Gunners have prepared the sum of £44 million to pay for the services of the Krobo Odumase-native.
Partey has made 33 appearances in all competitions for Atleti this season with three goals and one assist catapulting his club to the 6th spot in the La Liga and the champions league quarter final.
Mikel Arteta definitely knows a fine midfielder when he sees one, and there’s no doubt that Partey has caught the eye of the gaffer at a time the North Londoners are in dier need of another midfielder, after losing Aaron Ramsey to Juventus last summer.
