Coach Souleymanou Aboubakar has included midfield Maestro Thierry Tchuente in their squad for Wednesday’s CAF Confederation cup group stage game pitting Cotonsport of Garoua to Jeunesse Sportif Kabylie in Garoua.
The 28-year old midfielder kingpin had not been included in the the Club’s squad in the past two games but due to undisclosed reasons.
Scorer of two goals in Cotonsport’s scintillating run in the 2020-2021 CAF Confederation cup, Tchuente is expected to bring more to an already exciting Cotonsport of Garoua midfielder spoiled with options and led by captain Felix Oukine.
Tchuente has featured in six of Cotonsport’s ten games in the competition and peaked his output against Nigerien side AS SONIDEP when he scored a wonderful header to hand his side the initiative to progress to the group stages of the competition.
Cotonsport suffered a one-nil defeat in the reverse fixture, a result the Club is keen on overturning to reach the last eight of Africa’s interclub secondary competition.
The 15 times Cameroon champions are playing their best football in Continental competition in close to a decade and look poised to have a great run in the competition.
Cotonsport have won all but one of their five home fixtures in the competition. A win for Tchuente and co on Wednesday will secure top spot in group B with a game to spare.
The 2pm kick off at the legendary Roumde Adja Stadium in Garoua will also mark the return of coach Denis to the place he served for three successful years and wracked a number of silverwares for a great Cotonsport side.
Cotonsport are three points atop the group and seconded by JS Kabylie who must win to stay in the chase for the top spot.
