Popularly known as the Akure Gunners for their style of play which became famous under the tutelage of Gbenga Ogunbote in his first stint with the club, Sunshine Stars have now gone ten matches without a win in the league this season.
The team was asked to prosecute their home matches at the Soccer Temple in Lagos after their last home game against Nasarawa United didn’t go down well. Playing Enyimba in Akure would’ve been a difficult one for Sunshine Stars considering their current form not to now talk of playing at a neutral venue and as expected, the People’s Elephant compounded the woes of the Gbenga Ogunbote’s led side, inflicting the seventh defeat of the season upon them and their fifth in the last 10 games.
The result of the poor preparation before the start is really telling on the team and should they fail to turn things around in the next few weeks, we might see a Sunshine Stars struggling with Adamawa United beneath the log.

The Flying Antelopes who along their opponent for the evening was vying for the chance to go level on point with league leader Kwara United started the match with intensity and in 2 minutes into the game got their first goal through Aniefiok and 6 minutes later, Chinonso sealed the win for them.
Dakkada FC pipped Plateau United by a lone goal at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo to round up the match for the day.
Kwara United, Enugu Rangers and Kano Pillars occupies the first to third position all on 30 points while Akwa United with a game less are in fourth on 29 points. Enyimba with four outstanding games are in fifth with 27 points.
MFM FC, Warri Wolves, Ifeanyi Ubah and Adamawa United are bottom of the log with 17, 16, 14 and 11 points respectively.
