The Story Of Maiden Remo Sports Festival

Sagamu Local Government on Saturday, December 18, 2021, emerged as winners of the maiden Remo Sports Festival at Gateway International Stadium Sagamu Ogun State.

The host Local Government amassed a total of 12 Gold, 15 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals to emerge as overall Champions.

Ikenne Local Government with 10 Gold, 5 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals finish in the second position ahead of Remo North with 2 Silver and 6 Bronze medals.

Sagamu defeated Ikenne 2-0 in the final of the football event as two goals in either half from Agwu James Emmanuel and Gideon Olatunji propeled them to the gold medal.

Remo North won the third-place match 3-4 on penalties against Ogijo (Sagamu II) after a 1-1 scoreline in regulation time.

In Para Soccer, Sagamu United took the gold medal with an 8-5 triumph over Sagamu Boys while Ikenne Young Boys earned a 3-0 victory against Remo North in the third-place match.

Ikenne edged Sagamu 16-17 in the final of the basketball event as Remo North finished third after consecutive defeats to the finalists.

The Remo Sports Festival will be an annual event organised by the Remo Sports Development Council under the leadership of Olympic medalist, Chief Falilat Ogunkoya Omotayo (MON).

The maiden edition was supported by Bet9ja, Masters Club of Sagamu, and Remo GDF.

Other supports came from ValueJet, International Academy for the Gifted (IAGIFTED), Sagamu Great Britain Union, Fit 2 Go Gym centre, Nana Group of Companies, FC Ebedei, and Sunday Oyebode Para Soccer Foundation.

2. Ikenne: 10 Gold, 5 Silver, 9 Bronze Medals

3. Remo North: 0 Gold, 2 Silver, 6 Bronze medals
