JS Kabylie of Algeria lead trainer Denis Lavagne has refute reports that his team maybe disadvantaged in Wednesday’s CAF Confederation cup group stage game pitting Cotonsport of Garoua against JS Kabylie at the Roumde Adja Stadium.
The 2pm kick off in an expected temperatures of over 40° C has been a topical issue lately with some stakeholders stating that Cotonsport is on the advantage when they play fron 2pm.
Speaking on Monday evening just after his team’s first training session in Garoua, coach Lavagne touched on a number of aspects about the match-day five fixture amongst which was the weather conditions awaiting both teams.
“We will try to adapt, the weather is the same for the two teams,” the former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and Cotonsport of Garoua gaffer stated.
Late last week, and even earlier this week media speculations had it that JS Kabylie were working on changing the match kick off time from 2pm to 5pm.
CAF has since rejected that appeal as confirmed by the match program published by Cotonsport’s media division.
Therefore, Lavagne and his troops will train at the Roumde Adja Stadium at 5pm on Tuesday ahead of the group B decider on Wednesday.
The game will mark the return of coach Denis Lavagne to the historic Roumde Adja Stadium where he guided Cotonsport to League and cup glory between 2009 to 2011.
Speaking about his knowledge about Cotonsport, Lavagne was quick to point out a key aspect.
“It is true we have watched videos of the first game which gives us a chance to anticipate things but talking about knowing the team because of my time here. That’s impossible because most of the players then are no longer here.”
He however admitted there’s is an aspect that could be explored by his team.
“Talking about the environment, my stay here made me know more about Cotonsport and we will see how to explore that”.
