Ghanaian international Bernard Tekpetey has expressed his delight in the return of football but he is however disappointed for playing without fans.
The German Bundesliga returned on Saturday, May, 16 after a two months suspension due to the outbreak of Covid-19.
However, strict protocols demand that matches are to be played behind closed doors for the rest of the season.
The 22 year old Fortuna Düsseldorf forward expressing his thought to TV3, on the resumption of the league said he is glad the game is back but something has been taken out, that is the fans.
“Football is back and I’m really excited, and proud because that is my passion,”
“It is something I really want to do all the time and with this corona virus, we have been home doing nothing and so I’m glad football is back.
“In games, sometimes we players we love to play when our fans are there with us, cheering us together and singing.
“But in this case, we don’t have the fans there and it looks like something is missing because sometimes when the fans are shouting and singing, it gives us some motivation.” Tekpetey told TV3
The German championship is the first among the top five European leagues which returned after Covid-19 brought football activities to a standstill.
