Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda has beaten Tonnerre Kalara club of Yaoundé 4#1, to secure their place in the Elite one championship for the next football season.
The yellow submarines of Bamenda came from a goal down, to winning all three points. Tonnerre had gone ahead after just eight minutes of play, but YOSA’s captain Tegemo Emmanuel levelled scores at the 19 minute as both team returned to the dressing room tight one goal on either side at pause.
Tegemo scored his second goal of the game at the 54th minute, to take his season’s tally to 10 goals.
Forward Kadji Collins, made sure the game was beyond Tonnerre’s reachw with a fine finish at the 78th minute.
YOSA stayed solid at the back, to secure a 4#1 win, as Tegemo completed his hat trick deep in extra time to take his season’s tally to 11 goals. The victory took their point tally to 29 points, which automatically means they beat the relegation trap.
YOSA came into the game needing just one point to stay clear of the relegation playoff spot. The win over TKC was the first for the club in the post_Nkabyo Martin era, which also puts an end to their run of nine winless games.
Despite panthère’s 5#4 win over AS Fortuna, the Nzui manto will now battle YAFOOT FC in the relegation playoff game, to decide the fifth team that will join TKC, Racing, New Stars and OFTA in the Elite two championship.
It was the most difficult of seasons for YOSA in their 13 years in the top flight, but the yellow submarines survive the storm and now have enough time to rethink.
