Hope is what lovers of the beautiful game (football) are holding on to. Football activities have been down for a couple of months now in African and the world at large. This is due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
While some leagues around the world have been cancelled, others are still in confusion to determine the future of their leagues.
Tanzania on their part are gearing up towards the resumption of their league. This was hinted in a tweet by African Insider. The tweet reads.
“The Tanzanian League will resume on 13th June, according to @InnoValentino.”
It went further to say that the complete fixture list will be announced Sunday May 31st, 2020.
“The full fixture list is set to be announced by CEO Almasi Kasongo on Sunday 31st May.”
President Magufuli earlier this month in an installation ceremony proposed the restart of the league
“I propose that we must restart our league (Tanzania Premier League) matches, but people must watch it on television. I am only waiting for experts to advise me accordingly so that the league can proceed.”
28 out of 38 games have been played so far. Tanzanian league was suspended March 17, 2020. The country currently has 509 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 pandemic with 183 recovered and 21 deaths.
