Sunshine Stars International Football Club box-to-box midfielder, Jide Fatokun has insisted that, consistent ‘hard work’ made him to be a force to reckon with the Owena Whales.

Born and raised in Ede, Osun State, the midfield trojan started his football career at a tender age with Red Bombers FC Ede, from where he joined defunct Gray’s Int’l FC in 2013 and after 4 years he was picked by Duke Udi for Osun United in 2017.

Fatokun, one of the most rated midfielders in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) this season having played every minutes of the 19 games of the 2019/2020 season first round revealed to Family United By Football that, the experience garnered from lower leagues really helped him while playing in the elite division.

“I had a supportive parents growing up, their contributions was so huge to my career.

“The encouragements I received from my grassroots coaches and my trainers are so tremendous, coach Oyedunmola and Lama really model me and Duke Udi finished it up,” the cool headed player who loves to venture into business after quitting football informed FUBF.

Fatokun one of the most sought after reliable midfielder in the country is the second player from Ede town to feature in Nigeria Professional Football League further disclosed that, consistent hard work is his watchword moving forward.

“I do not like to be dropped in any game situations that’s why I work hard to secure my place in the team. I love to play and rest very well after each game in order to be ready for next match.

“I have the ambition of playing every minutes and l love to play every match. I love to keep my shirt in the team and am not ready to lose it to anyone at the moment,” Fatokun informed.

Before the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic forced the season to stand still, Fatokun only missed a trip to FC Ifeanyi Ubah in the ongoing season due to accumulation of yellow cards.

According to him, his contract with Owenna Whales expires at the end of the current campaign.
