Despite picking up three points against the Catholic University SA on matchday four, Buea United FC’s Coach Alabas says the game was quite difficult but his tactics paid off.
Buea United FC defeated CUSA 2-0 with goals from Marcus Nkwelle Nkwelle and Agbor Oben. The victory for the side made it three games unbeaten in the competition in Pool B.
“It was not an easy match. We played a very good side with a very good coach. It is just that my plans for the game worked. I decided that I should get an early goal and see how I can hold on and I am happy for the three points,” Buea United FC Coach Agbor Emmanuel better known as Alabas told journalists in his post-match reactions.
Coach Alabas fielded a young squad that took on CUSA with the young stars’ paying the coach’s faith in them with an outstanding performance. Collins Mayi, Marcus Nkwelle, Agbor Oben, Fon Tony-Bless were outstanding in the game and provided the spark that saw the team picking up the victory.
“It is a young squad that I am giving time to grow. They are progressing faster than I thought and I believe in two years they will start making names for themselves,” Coach Alabas added.
The victory that the guys got was particularly important for Coach Alabas. The victory came just a day to the birthday of the Coach which the players took the note off. After the referee’s final whistle, the player gathered with the fans and lifted the Coach high singing “Happy Birthday Coach”.
“The guys have given me a reason to celebrate. I cannot wish for a better than this (victory against CUSA),” Coach Alabas said.
It should be noted that Buea United sits on top of Pool B with 9 points. They are followed by Continental FA in the second position with 7 points. CUSA is third with 4 points and the University of Buea has 3 points.
