A brace each from Mborong Collins, Elonge Moki Junior and substitute Ekema Samuel Etonge saw Prisons FC of Buea dismantle Cinyodev FA, who ended the game a man down by 6 goals to 0. The six star performances of the Home Boys takes them top of Pool A with 3 points and a superior goal difference to H.O Academy with the same 3 points.
The first half of play was all Prisons as they look to put their noses in front. Captain Mborong Collins opened the scoring for his side in the first half of play. Elonge Moki then made it two-zero before adding a third goal before the end of the first half.
The second half began like the first with Prisons on the offensive. They had a number of chances but could not convert. Captain Collins then made it four deep into the second half.
Coach Enang Severine then made a substitution, bringing in Ekema Samuel, who fittingly repaid the trust showed to him. He was on hand to score Prisons’ fourth and fifth goals, the last coming right at the end of the game, crowning a beautiful performance from the Home Boys.
Cinyodev FA, who filled a young squad due to the unavailability of licences for most of the senior squad had a number of chances of their own but could not convert. At the last minutes of play and to reduce the damage, they resulted to tackles to try and repel the attack line of Prisons FC. The team are equally without some of the faces who were at the defence line for them last football season. Ntui Brandon, a main-stay at the defence for Cinyodev FA last football season signed with YOSA this year, as was another player of Cinyodev.
“This is a championship and every goal counts on the last day of the competition. So when you have the opportunity to make a goal you have to take it and it also builds confidence with the attackers. Last year we had the problem of our attackers not scoring so if they have the opportunity to score they have to take it to get that confidence,” Coach Enang Severine of Prisons FC told kick442.com.
Speaking on the return of his captain, Coach Enang severine said “We really missed him last year adnd it caused us a lot of damage in Prisons. Today you saw that he had an impact on our game and we are happy and we hope he will go far in this way he has started.”
It promises to be a showdown when the league resumes after the CHAN. Match day two pits the two top teams of Pool A as H.O Academy faces Prisons FC Buea. Last football season, it was Prisons that had the better of H.O Academy as the side won 1 goal to zero.
“We prepare every game differently. The way we play Cinyodev FA will not be the same way we are going to play H.O Academy. We watched them today and we are going back to practice how we can overcome them,” Coach Enang severine told kick442.com, in respect to their upcoming showdown against H.O Academy in 2021.
