The first round of the SW Regional Football Championship has come to an end with various talking points deduce from the matches played across the Region. Pool B, E and F concluded their first-round during matchday five played on Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 after those of Pool A, C and D had concluded on matchday three.
20 goals were scored across the matchday five fixtures with three homes victories, one away from victory and there were two draws. Tiko United FC recorded the biggest win on matchday five with a 5-0 thumping of Treviso FC.
Buea United FC and EEMSA who were the only teams with a 100% winning run surrendered that record on matchday five. Buea United FC was beaten 4-2 by Continental FA, with the latter extending its unbeaten run in the Regional League to 9 games while EEMSA was beaten by a reinvigorated Ajax FC side (1-0) that lost their previous encounter to Tiko United.
Things are tight in Pool F with three teams tight on nine points. EEMSA, Ajax FC and Tiko United FC are all fighting to finish top of the Pool. The Samba Boys who almost looked finish after losing their first encounter against EEMSA has gone on a run of three successive victories to keep their hopes alive in the championship.
It should be noted that Treviso in Pool F, NEMFA in Pool E, ISOHSA and FUSSA in Pool C are the only teams who are yet to pick a point in their entire first-round matches played.
