H.O Academy’s winning run in the South West Regional League came to an end after Cinyodev FA came from three goals down to draw the game. H.O Academy before this game had won its two previous encounters while Cinyodev was coming off from a victory against Mt Cameroon in the last encounter.
Goals from Wansi Joseph, Samnick Daniel and Ashu Vincent saw H.O Academy take a three-zero lead into the first half at the BGS School Field this Sunday before Cinyodev FA hit back in the second half with a goal from Adian and a brace from Tabi, bringing the game to 3-3.
In a game full of contestable decisions on the part of the Cinyodev FA side, it was H.O Academy that mounted the pressure in the opening minutes of the game. Ebai Ashu had the first vital chance for H.O Academy but his chance was saved.
Cinyodev were relegated to just a few chances in the opening minutes of the game. Graham Mbong had Cinyodev’s first chance at the 11mins but his strike was off target.
It was H.O Academy that finally took the lead in the encounter. At the 18mins a beautiful freekick from Bikai Patrick calmly met the head of Wansi Joseph who scored the opener.
Graham Mbong was the marksman for Cinyodev FA having much of the ball but the finishing was lacking from him. He at the 33mins had a glaring opportunity but his strike was deflected by the H.O Academy defence.
Cinyodev will leave to regret not taken their chances as they went 2-0 down. Samnick Daniel scored a tap in goal at the 35mins to give H.O Academy a 2-0 lead and cruise control of the game.
Emerant Motutu then came close to bringing his side into the game at the 39mins but his long-distance strike went across the crossbar.
At the 44mins it was H.O Academy that went 3-0 through Ebai Ashu Vincent from a beautiful cross by Wansi Joseph.
This was the second goal for Ebai Ashu in two games after he was on target for H.O Academy in their last encounter against Prisons FC.
Cinyodev FA began the second half on the front foot as they looked to get their noses in front. At the 58mins they finally got a goal back through Epoge Adrian Akwi.
Cinyodev looked to have gotten a foothold of the game in the second half, something which they fail to do in the first half. Emerant, Mbong took the game to H.O Academy which made the latter lose their grip of the game.
Substitute Gilbert Tabi brought the game to 2-1 at the 71mins with his goal contested by the H.O Academy side. The ball was judge to have entered the goal from a hole in the net. After some contentious minutes, the referee awarded the goal to Cinyodev.
Gilbert Tabi finally sealed the comeback for Cinyodev scoring a superb goal at the 83mins, a goal that brought jubilations to the fans of Cinyodev and ensured they avoided defeat. With little chances for both sides after this goal, the game ended 3-3 between both sides.
It should be noted that in three games played H.O Academy has won two and drew the other. For Cinyodev they have won one, lost one and drew one.
These round three matches bring to an end the first round for the teams in Pool A.
On Saturday, it was Prisons FC who had to come from a goal down to pull a 1-1 draw against Mt Cameroon in a closely-fought encounter.
H.O Academy currently counts seven points in Pool A. They are followed by Prisons FC in the second position with four points. The third position is occupied by Cinyodev FA with four points while Mt Cameroon counts one point and on the last position.
