Hilaire Owona Academy or better known as H.O Academy began the new football season with a 3-0 thumping of Mt Cameroon FC on Match day one of the 2020/2021 South West Regional League.
The team based in Douala but playing in the SW Regional League made light work of their opponents, though they were made to work for the points in the opening minutes of the game.
Both sides came out guns blazing in the opening half of the game as they both look to get a goal. Alexi made the defenders of My Cameroon to be on their toes after he had opportunities to score at the 5mins of play.
At the 9 minute of play, Sona Ekobe of Mt Cameroon had a chance to score but shot straight to goalkeeper Junior. Nsankon had a chance for Mt Cameroon at the 12 minute with a one-on-one but decide to pass to Sona Ekobe whose shot was stopped at the goal post, with the rebound he shot wise.
Jonathan Nessi, Armand Obama and Paul Massoh were the standout players for H.O Academy. The three players combined beautifully in the game and made the defenders of Mt Cameroon FC to always be on their top form. Alexi opened the scoring for H.O Academy at the 17 minute of play after a misjudge pass met his foot and he calmly slotted in the far post.
Mt Cameroon tried to rally back from the goal down with Sona Ekobe having most of the chances for the side. A lapse in judgment, however, saw the side go 2 down. Lepzo, a defender for Mt Cameroon was judge to have handled the ball inside his penalty area from a throw-in. The resulted penalty was converter by Alexi at the 22 minutes.
The second half began more promising for Mt Cameroon FCas H.O Academy were slowly removing their legs from the pedal. Sona Ekobe, who tormented H.O Academy in the first half had many of the chances for his side Mt Cameroon but on all occasions could not trouble goalkeeper Junior of H.O.
H.O then slowly regain controlled of the second half with a beautiful play between Obama and Alexi, only for the ball to be hit wide. Obama then had a chance at the 50th minute of plaay but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Dioni Peter.
Sona Ekobe then had a chance for Mt Cameroon FC at the 54th minute of play only for him to shoot straight to the hands of goalkeeper Junior. Ebai Ashu then made sure that all 3 points went the way of H.O Academy as he slotted in the third goal for his side, and that is how it ended at the referee’s final whistle.
“It has been a good start for us as we had a good preparation to get the three points. It is thanks to the coach and everyone that we have gotten the points and we are going back to prepare for the next game ahead. We will go back to training so we are in good shape when the league restarts,” Alexi Lalas, scorer of a brace for HO. Academy told kick442.com
H.O Academy will need to recharge with the league going on a recess. After the CHAN, the League resumes with a crunch encounter on Match day two with H.O Academy facing Prisons FC Buea, a team that defeated them one goal to zero last football season.
