Ajax Lions of Likomba have suffered their first defeat in the ongoing South West Regional Championship. The team was defeated 2-1 by Tiko United FC on matchday four played at the Tiko Town green Stadium on Sunday, March 21.
Few minutes was enough for Tiko United to taste the goalkeeping abilities of Ajax goalkeeper and Captain Mandande who exhibited the true spirit of a Lion goalkeeper with beautiful saves.
This joy was to be short-lived for Ajax and their fans who went a goal down. At the 26mins Prince Iko produce a goal for Tiko United through a penalty kick, a goal that gave the Samba Boys the hopes of making it two wins from two games.
Tiko United then scored a second goal but the first assistant referee denied the already validated goal by the centre referee, who after consulting his assistant, cancelled the goal.
Tiko United managed to score 3goals in the game but the assistant referee turned down two goals but Prince Iko continued his goal-scoring magic in almost every game by scoring the second goal for Tiko United at the 52mins, just 7mins into the second half.
Goalkeeper Forbisong Forbisong and Robert Mandande were both facing their former club after making the switch. Forbisong Forbisong left Ajax FC for Tiko United while Robert Mandande departed Tiko United FC for Ajax FC.
Suh pianist pulled a goal back for Ajax FC at the 73mins as they pressed for an equalizer. The team had won its previous two games before meeting Tiko United.
It was a game full of penalties with Tiko United having the lions’ share. Prince Iko had a chance to get a hattrick in the game but his penalty kick was saved.
It was a closely fought encounter between the Samba Boys and the Lions of Likomba. With three points up for grabs, the players resulted in harsh tackles with the game producing six yellow cards and a red card.
Alain George, a defensive midfielder for Tiko United was sent out of the field of play after earning himself a second yellow card, resulting in a red card. Ajax FC was denied their last penalty by the centre referee whose decisions were always contradictory to that of his assistants.
The victory for Tiko United takes them to second on the table in Pool F with 6 points. The team is behind leaders EEMSA on 9 points. Despite losing her first game, Ajax is still placed third with 6 points. Little Foot FC is fourth with 3 points while Treviso has 0 points.
Ajax FC will hope to get back to winning ways when they next take to the field. The team will be away from home to leaders EEMSA for matchday five while Tiko United will face bottom team Treviso hoping to continue their winning run.
