Cinyodev FA avenges the defeat they suffered against Prisons FC on matchday one of the SW Regional League as they picked up a ticket into the last round of the qualifiers for the Cup of Cameroon.
A lone goal from Mbong Graham at injury time ensured it was Cinyodev FA going through to the next round in a hotly contested encounter played on Sunday, April 18 at the BGS School Field.
Cinyodev FA who defeated LIFCA in the last encounter headed into this game confident in beaten Prisons FC and not allowing what happened to them before where Prisons won 6-0. It was an improved Cinyodev FA side who looked in unison, passed the ball well and defended as a team.
With just 3mins on the board, it was Cinyodev FA who had the first strike. Mbong Graham’s shot went just above the crossbar, indicative of what is to come in the encounter. The player was a menace to the Prisons FC backline.
Mborong Collins had Prisons FC’s first shot on target but his effort was weak to threaten the Cinyodev goalkeeper. He was almost like a spectator in the encounter producing just a few saves in the game.
Shu Timothy almost gave Prisons FC the lead but his effort was blocked as both sides went into halftime with nothing to show for.
The second half began as the first with both leads looking to get their noses in front. Goalkeeper Lovette, who was making his first appearance for Prisons, produced an excellent save to keep out Graham. Lovette was terrific in the encounter saving his side from going behind on several occasions.
However, his lapse in judgment a few minutes to the end of the match gave Mbong Graham a chance and the latter took it, scoring the only goal of the game.
It should be recalled that these two sides will meet again for the return of the second round of the SW Regional League. Prisons FC will be hoping to avenge their defeat they suffered against Cinyodev FA in the Cup of Cameroon, with both teams still in line to finish top of Pool A.
