Simba SC’s head coach Sven Vandenbroeck has told kick442.com that he is not worried about reports linking the club’s lead striker Meddie Kagere away from the Dar Es Salaam giants.
This comes after the player’s agent Patrick Gakumba revealed that Spanish La Liga outfit Levante had tabled a $600 000 for the 33-year-old striker who has a year left in his Simba SC contract.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with kick442.com this weekend, the 2017 AFCON winning coach with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon reaffirmed his clubs desire to keep Meddie at the club for as long as possible but say his departure wouldn’t distract the club.
“Meddie is an important player for us, for now I have no have no idea about rumors of his future. What I know is that I want to keep only players fully commited to Simba SC.
“Keeping players against their will or holding them back from a great move, has a reverse effect.
I will be glad if he stays, but not desperate if he decides to he leave” Sven told kick442.com.
MK14 as he is popularly known has developed into a cult hero since his arrival at the club from Kenyan side Gor Mahia.
Sven has brought out the best in MK14 and masterminded a great come back at Simba SC less than a year into his time at the club.
The 40-year-old gaffer took over at the club last July. In his short time at the club, he has lifted them from the 4th spot to the top of the league with 15 points.
