Super Falcons jersey at France 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup has been voted as the best kit at the tournament.
The jersey was voted via FIFA Women’s World Cup Twitter handle with a poll which started on Sunday, June 22, 2020.
Nigeria’s jersey came top with 50% votes ahead of Australia Matilda’s jersey with 21.3%, England with 15.1%, and Germany with 13.6%.
Nigeria made it to the Round of 16 in the course of last FIFA Women’s World Cup with the jersey winning one game against South Korea and losing three games to Norway, France, and Germany.
The jersey took the world by storm with the release for the 2018 World Cup. Fans queued for hours outside Nike’s flagship store in London to get their hands on one, and with three million pre-orders of the replica shirts, they sold out almost immediately after they were released. The home and away shirts, priced at €64.95, were sold out on the sportswear giant’s website after they were released.
The maker describes the home kit as “subtle homage to Nigeria’s ’94 shirt, with its eagle wing-inspired black-and-white sleeve and green torso”. The away kit, meanwhile, is a “cool, refined vision” of the classic full-green strip.
