Super Falcons Back To Winning Ways in China invitational tourney

Nigeria’s Women National Team, Super Falcons shrugged off her 3-0 defeat to China to record a convincing 4-1 triumph over Romanian Women National Team at the Third-Fourth Place Playoff match at Wuhua International Four Nations Tournament in China.

The game which took place on Sunday January 20, 2019 kicked off by 8:00am Nigerian time with Super Falcons mounting early attacking pressure on the Romanians ladies but the latter looked difficult to break while Nigeria remain solid and unrelenting .

With three minutes from half time, the Super Falcons continued to push forward to gain the lead which came by 44th minute with goal from Chinwedu Ihezuo. It ended Nigeria 1-0 Romania at half time.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Europeans levelled matters to keep the scores even at 1-1. Unrelenting still, Super Falcons regained their lead in the 63rd minute with Onome Ebi’s strike. Soon after 2-1 turned to 3-1 in favour of Nigeria courtesy Rita Chikwelu’s goal.

Unsatisfied, Super Falcons of Nigeria sealed up the win with their fourth goal in the 83rd minute from Brighton and Hove Albion player INI Umotong’s strike.

This result meant that super Falcons of Nigeria finished third in the Four Nation Invitational Tournament preparatory to 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Up next for Super Falcons is the Cyprus Women Cup slated to take place from February 25 to March 7, 2019. The tournament will feature other female national women teams like Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Korea DPR, Mexico, Slovakia, South Africa and Thailand.
