After emerging as the best kit at 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Super Falcons squad at the last FIFA Women’s World Cup in France has also been voted as the continent’s most competitive team at the World Cup since 1991, kick442.com can report.
The team was voted via FIFA Women’s World Cup Twitter handle with a poll which started on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, and ended on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.
The Nigerian side to the 2019 tournament came top with 35.2% votes ahead of Nigeria’s 1999 squad with 33.8%, Cameroon 2019 squad with 19.5%, and Cameroon 2015 squad with 11.4%.
Super Falcons under the tutelage of Thomas Dennerby made it to the Round of 16 at France 2019 tournament after losing their first group match 3-0 to Norway, defeating South Korea 2-0, losing 1-0 to host France and 3-0 to Germany in the knock out stage.
Ismaila Mabo led 1999 squad made it to the quarter-final of the tournament after losing 7-1 to host the USA, defeating North Korea and Denmark, before losing the quarter-final match 4-3 to Brazil after extra time in one of the most entertaining matches of the tournament where Nigeria came back from 3-0 down to force the game into extra time.
